In today’s fitness landscape, asking a person what their favorite CrossFit location is, is the same as asking a meathead which gym they prefer to pump iron at: the answers are varied and mostly biased. I myself am a Gold’s Gym nut, but primarily because I like grimy gyms that have the machines widely spaced out, you know, to accommodate all the lugs whose arms are too big for their bodies. But, we decided to try and tackle the question of, which are the best CrossFit locations in America. There are only about 18 million in existence, so we went by region. We based it off of programs offered, reviews/likes, schedule, and environment. Here is what we came up with, let us know at the bottom which ones you think deserve to be on the list.
Crossfit Napa Valley – Napa, CA
CrossFit Napa Valley is a tucked away gem that makes you want to start climbing all over everything the minute you walk in. I saw this place personally, and the wide open, 8700 sq.ft. space is great! They offer programs ranging from Intro to Competitor, and the pricing is straightforward with either Unlimited or Punch (w/ Couple & special pricing for active and educators) which is a breath of fresh air with the amount of varied pricing that’s out there these days. A major perk? Unlimited child care is offered here. Now that’s something new! Two coaches that have both qualified and are qualified, and this place is the perfect fitness stop when you need to burn off those wine calories.

CrossFit Belltown – Seattle, WA
CrossFit Belltown is on the list because they are a proven location to get your CrossFit on. A two year winner of Best of Western Washington, CFBT has a month to month membership and offers Basics, CrossFit, Bootcamp, Yoga, Olympic Lifting, and Gymnastics. Their very deep coaching bench boasts long lists of certifications, CrossFit levels, and athletic achievements which means that if you go there to workout, you’re in very capable hands. Their space is large and inviting, and honestly, is quite pretty. Which can be a good distraction while you’re bent over about to hurl from the grueling WOD this location will be putting you through.

Crossfit Hellgate – Missoula, MT
You know a place must be awesome when it has Hell in the name. CrossFit Hellgate made the list for price and it’s mission: “We are a bare bones, no nonsense training facility that specializes in functional fitness. We offer elite fitness to the masses.” You got to love a Box when they don’t give a crap about impressing you. Their focus is only about making you better, so the $105 Unlimited pricing makes it possible for just about anyone to become better. Some of the best pricing we’ve found on the ‘net, CrossFit Hellgate is also ran by 3 enthusiastic guys who have built an awesome space that accommodates both large and small classes and the hectic full morning and night schedule.

Crossfit Park City – Park City, UT
The last thing you might be thinking after a long day on the slopes is to go beat yourself up in a WOD, but if you live in or visit Park City, CrossFit Park City is the place to do it. A staff that boasts athletes that are as ripped as they are qualified, they have realized the thing that makes any Box great; the people. This place is on the list for many reasons, but their dedication to their community is high on the list. Each of their athletes can be tracked online, with their benchmarks, times, and workouts listed. They have a “Motivation Station” and they promote one of their athletes each month. This is a gym built on their clients, and thats something we love.

Windy City CrossFit – Chicago, IL
Windy City CrossFit is legit. Honestly, pretty legit. They boast a schedule that gives any CrossFitter the option of working out practically all day with their last class starting at 7:30pm. Their programs are extensive as well, running the usual gambit of Beginner, Personal…all the way to Female Specific. That is something we can most definitely get behind. They feature athletes and their PR’s, and feature coaches that have been educated straight through every CrossFit level. This is an involved and dynamic location that deserves any Chicagoans attention.

CrossFit Gambit – St. Louis, MO
CrossFit Gambit piqued my interest for one specific program they offer: Saiyan Training. What. The. F. That and their StrongMan program, and I’d say this is worth a stop-by. If possible, CrossFit Gambit is more than just their programming. Their coaches look exactly like the coaches you’d want training you, with CF Open qualifiers and extensive experience bringing this place to the top of the pack. Their ladies look amazing and their videos are educational, and one piece of the puzzle that they tackle so well is nutrition. Their recipes are free, while their 2 membership types (unlimited or punch) make this location feasible. You may or may not think of CrossFit when you think of Missouri, but CrossFit Gambit is helping make a strong push to make you see fitness when you come to their state.

CrossFit Framingham – Framingham, MA
CrossFit Framingham isn’t the overly populated, oversized Box some are use to. This place is community built, community recognized. With programming price including open gyms and all yoga classes, the coaches (who aren’t too bad looking if I may say) place an emphasis on community fun. The schedule is full of both WODs and events taking place at the gym. The coaches here are building a CrossFit location to help more people realize why they should choose CrossFit.

Crossfit NYC: The Black Box – NYC, NY
You’re going to hear about CrossFit NYC: The Black Box a lot. You’ve probably already heard of Black Box a lot. Their presence on this list is no surprise. With multiple locations and an incredibly extensive coaching staff, this CrossFit location has propelled itself to the top of people’s lists for the place to go for CrossFit in NYC. Their schedule extends from the wee morning, to the late evening (last class starts at 8:40pm) and includes CrossFit Endurance and Competition Team. Their site says it all, they aren’t about anything beyond thrusting CrossFit in your face and making you better at it. They are large, they are strong, and they run New York City.

CrossFit Center City – Philadelphia, PA
As a Pittsburgher, it breaks my heart to give any attention to Philadelphia, but CrossFit Center City deserves the attention. They have an emphasis on technique and strong fundamentals, with classes specifically for restoring the body and to master the squat. Their staff features multiple competitors, of both the O lifting and CF kind, and their members benefit from an extensive nutritional blog that fully educates and instructs on how to promote healthfulness when away from the weights. The first CrossFit location in the city, they’ve grown their membership base by having pricing that includes every class they offer except their advanced O lifts. That includes, gymnastics, strongman, yoga, and restorative. And, oh yes, CrossFit itself. I may not be a Philly fan, but I’m most definitely a fan of strong people making other people stronger.

CrossFit Invoke – Raleigh, NC
You know you’re learning something when your coach is Christmas Abbott. That’s just one perk you’ll receive when you train at CrossFit Invoke. The scrolling goes on and on when you visit the Coaches page, not because they have too many, but because there are so many accomplishments listed for each one. They live by the mantra, “Invoke Your Inner Athlete” by referring to their Box as a place for adult recess, offering programs from Bootycamp and Yoga to …. Martial Arts? Yep, this box is a large and beautiful playground, with platforms and barbells as far as the eye can see. They remind athletes what the term “a kid in a candy store” truly means.

Crossfit Harbor East – Baltimore, MD
1 Membership. 4 Locations. 20 Great Coaches. That’s the first thing you’ll see when you visit CrossFit Harbor East. When we asked on our Facebook Page</a href> which CrossFit Gym was the best, CFHE fans were heard loud and clear. Maybe it’s the accessibility, there being locations spread around the Baltimore area and your membership covers them all. Maybe it’s the overly athletic staff who prove you can go from being a Division 1 athlete to a CrossFitter. Maybe it’s their dedication to health and nutrition. Chances are, you won’t ever know for sure until you go try it out yourself, as plenty of their community can probably attest to. Being so close, I might run up there for a go myself, although I’d be worried I’d catch their enthusiasm…

Gardens CrossFit – Palm Beach Gardens, FL
The reason to like Gardens CrossFit lies in their mission; to positively influence…by challenging the body and mind. In a time where people refer to CrossFit as a cult and the participants as obsessed, Gardens CrossFit is working hard to promote a simple athletic positivity that can be felt throughout their entire space and site. Also, their owner looks garshdarn legit. Their schedule is robust, offering classes throughout the majority of the day and at $150 Unlimited, I’d say this place is well worth the money. They offer nutritional coaching as well as a definitive supplement program. My favorite part? Their gym rules. Especially #5: “Don’t be a jerk. There is always someone out there bigger, faster, and stronger than you.” Now that’s, a box I can fit into.

Crossfit Max Effort – Las Vegas, NV
Surrounded by massive hotels and beautiful buildings, you would think a place like a gym would get lost in the shuffle. CrossFit Max Effort will prove you wrong. It is…gosh just awesome inside. It’s 16,000 sq.ft. of pure awesome. Their training philosophy is also very awesome, with their classes and athlete levels focusing you on tangible goals (Learning – Consistency – Intensity) rather than how much weight you can throw overhead. Their staff is well developed, females and males equally represented, and are incredibly knowledgable and qualified. As a visitor or a resident, this place is a must-go to help you work off some of that “sin”.

DogTown Crossfit – Culver City, CA
DogTown is a supporter of community; their fitness community and their physical community. Each year they throw a fundraiser (Stand Up to Cancer) showing that even if you “drink the kool-aid”, you’re still pretty aware of awesome opportunities to do good. DogTown has a well developed schedule and program and while the price may seem steep, it is fully inclusive of their entire program. Yep, that means unlimited EVERYTHING. If you’re the type that hates hearing “no”, this is the spot for you. While they don’t train dogs, pooches are certainly welcomed and adored at this location, as well as the athletes who give everything they got during each class.

CrossFit H-Town – Houston, TX
CrossFit H-Town made the list for a myriad of reasons. A women’s only class is a definite plus. The travel workouts is another big one. The schedule that goes on and on is yet another. CrossFit H-Town is a multi-location business that boasts a full digital magazine, a food line, and a corporate staff of 6. That’s on top of their 17 person coaching staff. Their site is fluid, informative, and while they may be a business, they most certainly put people first. Their retention rate definitely speaks to that. Their philosophy is about increasing your total capacity, and cater to the beginner and the competitor. This place isn’t one of the highest rated in Houston for nothing, so if you’re in the area, go check it out.
